The Texas Ramp Project’s mission is to establish regional organizations across Texas to build freewheelchair ramps for elderly or disabled people in need. The Abilene Ramp Project is one of 32 regional organizations of the statewide Texas Ramp Project. TheAbilene Project, which serves the 19 counties of the West Central Texas Council of Governments, has beenbuilding ramps since 2008. In those nine years volunteers completed 601 ramps, the vast majority of them inTaylor and Nolan counties, and contributed nearly 16,000 hours to ramp-building activities.
