OutReach is Madison’s LGBT Community Center. Their mission is to promote equality and quality of life to LGBT people. Specifically, OutReach strives to create a community in which its lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer members are respected, welcomed, and celebrated. With 2 full time and 3 part time employees, and over 100 volunteers, OutReach provides many services. These include information and referrals, peer counseling, a 6,000 volume lending library, 20+ social and support groups, a speakers’ bureau, health-related services and programming, advocacy, project group management, and collaborative ventures on safe sex, domestic violence, LGBT seniors and mental health. OutReach also publishes a monthly community Calendar & Guide, a comprehensive annual Directory of LGBT-friendly resources, and several websites and social media pages. Funding will be used to increase the hours of OutReach’s Transgender Health Consultant, Darla Lannert, to meet the increased demand for training programs on transgender issues throughout the state of Wisconsin.
