This grant was awarded by the student evaluation team from the Fall 2016 course, in conjunction with their 1 year evaluation in Fall 2017. OutReach is Madison’s LGBT Community Center. Their mission is to promote equality and quality of life to LGBT people. Specifically, OutReach strives to create a community in which its lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer members are respected, welcomed, and celebrated. With 2 full time and 3 part time employees, and over 100 volunteers, OutReach provides many services. These include information and referrals, peer counseling, a 6,000 volume lending library, 20+ social and support groups, a speakers’ bureau, health-related services and programming, advocacy, project group management, and collaborative ventures on safe sex, domestic violence, LGBT seniors and mental health. OutReach also publishes a monthly community Calendar & Guide, a comprehensive annual Directory of LGBT-friendly resources, and several websites and social media pages.
