67% of the Baylor Spring 2017 Class’s evaluation found their $8,000 grant to R Labs to be a mistake because the grant money did not fulfil its intended purpose. 33% of the class said that the grant was a good decision with a bad outcome because the partnersip was ambitious, but had a high risk. R Labs is an organization originally based in South Africa whose goal is to alleviate poverty by encouraging young entrepreneurs in the community. The grant was intended to fund the Mobile Café program, in which students from Waco would run a café, teaching them work responsibility and business skills. Unfortunately, the class failed to reach the target demographic and the program was unable to draw additional funding necessary to secure a physical location for future classes.
