Nurse Family Partnership

The majority, or 78%, of the Baylor Spring 2017 Class’s evaluators found their $4,500 grant to Nurse Family Partnership to be a good decision with a good outcome because it funded the program and positively affected mothers’ health. However, 22% voted the grant to be a mistake because it could not be used for all of its intended purposes. Nurse Family Partnership is a free healthcare service that operates out of Baylor Scott and White Medical Center. They pair registered nurses with expecting and new mothers, performing house visits through the first two years after childbirth. The grant was intended to fund strollers and walking shoes for new mothers, which would encourage a healthy lifestyle during and after pregnancy. Due to spending limitations, the shoes had to be acquired through a separate donation, but the grant was used for strollers and other items.
