All of UW-Madison’s Fall 2017 evaluation team found their $15,000 grant to Malawi Children’s Village to be a good decision with a good outcome because it not only helped fund the initial project, but also supported expanision with programs like The Sanitary Pad Program. Malawi has extreme socioeconomic concerns as well as a severely high number of citizens with HIV/AIDS. Malawi Children’s Village (MCV) was started by Peace Corps Volunteers and is run by Malawians with help from others. The mission of MCV is to enhance the lives of orphans by providing health, social, and educational resources to villages throughout Malawi. The grant contributed to the growth of the Sanitary Pad Program, which aims to increase young female attendance in school.
