La Raza

The Rice Spring 2017 Class’s evaluation found their $4,100 grant to La Raza to be a good decision with a good outcome. La Raza, now known as SEDES (System for Education, Empowerment, and Success) is a program that leads at-risk youths and adults in the Latinx community to further improvements in their quality of life and civic engagement. The grant was put towards the SUCCEED After School Program which implements leadership training with the goal of decreasing dropout and teen pregnancy rates while providing students with valuable leadership skills. The SUCCEED Program has been rolled out in two schools so far with more planned.
