Breakthrough Greater Boston

The Harvard Fall 2016 Class’s evaluation found their $10,250 grant to Breakthrough Greater Boston to be split in half between a good decision with a good outcome and a mistake. Students said the metrics were somewhat unclear and the organization altered their goals of the funded prgram due to new leadership. However, the donation did contribute to the program’s growth. Breakthrough Greater Boston is a nonprofit that supports the development of low-income students and prepares them for the academic transition to college by using a 6-year college access model of out-of-school support to close the opportunity gap. The grant allowed the program to help serve more students, enabled the creation of a study hall, and supported materials and curricula for new students.
