The Tulane University Fall 2016 Class found their $10,000 grant to A’s and Aces to be a good decision with a good outcome. A’s and Ace’s mission is to provide academic assistance, life skills, and tennis instruction to New Orleans public school children. They focus on literacy, physical fitness and tennis skills to counter obesity, and essential life skills and behavior to mitigate violence, and improve citizenship and social capital of children. The grant was used to expand the afterschool “Pathway to College Initiative” program. The organization hired more high quality certified coaching staff and were able to acquire more resources (i.e. equipment and supplies).
